Understanding the Correct and Proper Way to Instant Start with Manual Override

You may occasionally find yourself at the wheel with a dead battery. However, most batteries that are completely dead cannot be started with the default Boost mode. However, you can increase the range of starts by starting with the Manual Bypass mode. NOCO® Genius Boosts are designed to jump start 12 volt lead-acid batteries at 2 volts. Using the manual bypass feature will allow you to “Enable” the starting function on a weak battery. Please note, both spark protection and reverse polarity protection are disabled in Manual Bypass mode.

The Boost LED will be off.

If your battery is below 2 volts, the Boost LED will be off. This is an indication that Boost cannot detect a battery.

ATTENTION

Use this function with great care. Both spark protection and reverse polarity protection are disabled.

Correct Connection

Press and Hold

Boost LED flashes

The white Boost LED will flash between “On” and “Off” indicating that you are successfully in Manual Override mode and are ready to start your vehicle.

Deactivation

Disable Boost Start before disconnecting the battery clamps. Caution, both spark protection and reverse polarity protection are disabled in manual bypass mode.
