Tips to get the most out of Genius Boost

Author: Dan Wilder NOCO® Team Leader

  • Using Boost as a constant light

The NOCO® Genius Boost is a great light source when working in the dark. On a full charge, the GB70 can produce light for hours. If you are working in the dark or under a car, you can use your wallet, a wrench or any other small tool as a support for the GB70 to illuminate dark areas.

  • Using an S-hook to convert the GB70 into a pendant light

With a simple S-hook, you can securely hang the GB70 from your car's hood hook to illuminate the engine compartment. It's useful to have an S-hook handy with your GB70 when working in the garage, but also in case of a breakdown or roadworks.

  • Using Boost as a power supply

Looking for technical specifications or how-to videos? Or just want to listen to music while you work? Keep your devices charged during a major repair project. The built-in 2.1A USB port will safely charge your phone, tablet, portable speaker, and other compatible USB devices.

  • Using Boost with alternative grounding points

Some batteries may have hard-to-reach contacts or be mounted in a way that both of their contacts are hard to reach. However, there are many places on the car where you can connect the ground clamp. Bolts and areas around the dome, or any spot on the chassis with little or no paint are the best contact points. The no-ignition technology featured on all Boost models makes this process safe and easy.

  • Using Boost's Manual Override feature

Some repair jobs can be very time-consuming, and if your battery is not connected to a trickle charger, you are likely to end up with a dead battery. Fortunately, Boost has a solution for that. Boost’s Manual Override feature has the ability to jump start any dead battery (less than 2V) in seconds, restarting the car, truck or motorcycle you are repairing on its own power. Always remember to take safety precautions when using Manual Override, as it disables all safety measures which can put you at risk of electric shock or fire.
